This single-family home felt far too traditional for its new owners. These client’s wanted a space that exudes warmth and tranquility, a home that invites their shoulders to drop after a long and tiring day of work. Inspired by the sun-kissed coasts of California and the southern Mediterranean, Mercurio pulled together a palette that is tonal and minimal, yet highly rich in texture. We decide to color-drench the entire first and second floor common areas in a warm plaster white. With client’s who cook daily, the kitchen was set to be the heart of the home; We proceeded with a full-gut reno, turning what was once a more utilitarian prep-kitchen into a space that would be much more conducive to hosting and entertaining. Rich walnut cabinets, Veiny marbles, Bronze plated glass and matte black fixtures provided a crisp contrast to an otherwise neutral backdrop. Glowing, dimmable light fixtures and textured plaster helped to create a unique space.
